Creative Supervision Training

Supervision Diploma Training Programme

The London Centre for Psychodrama hosts the Diploma in Creative Supervision which is recognised by The British Association of Dramatherapists and accredited by The British Psychodrama Association, organisational members of HPC and UKCP respectively. The course, originally devised and run by Dr Sue Jennings and Anna Chesner is now taught by Anna Chesner and Lia Zografou. It is run in London over the equivalent of 6 weekends (Friday evening, Saturday all day, Sunday all day apart from May bank holiday module which runs Friday to Monday inclusive). The course is humanistic and psychodynamic in orientation with the primary emphasis on the creative process.

This course is of value to psychodramatists, dramatherapists, music therapists, dance-movement therapists, art therapists, play therapists, counsellors, psychotherapists and others who address supervision issues as part of their working role. Whilst Anna Chesner brings her experience in dramatherapy, psychodrama and group analytic psychotherapy to the training team, Lia Zografou brings her dramatherapy and Gestalt specialisations in addictions and organisational consultancy. Both tutors are playback theatre practitioners, and have contributed to the 2007 Book Passionate Supervision, ed Shohet, published by Jessica Kingsley Publications

Please note: participants need to have at least one supervisee by the commencement of the full course in September.

This intensive 120 hour course provides participants with the basic skills for applying a creative and action approach to supervision. We will use embodiment, projective methods, creative visualisation, enactment and other practical methods to highlight the supervision process and address areas of concern.

Participants are encouraged to bring examples from their own work to explore through active methods in order to illustrate the parallel process in supervision. We shall consider the several roles of the supervisor including educator, challenger and explorer to consider the flexibility necessary in practice.
